What does the dual program mean on the Optimate 4?OptiMate 4 Dual Program includes two charging programs; the standard program is supposed to be used when connecting directly to the battery, the CANbus (BMW) program allows charging and maintaining via the DIN socket on BMW Motorcycles (models 2004 and later)
Does Optimate 4 have a battery recovery program?Yes, the standard program has the most advanced recovery program which saves 'dead flat' sulphated batteries from as low as 0,5V.
Which program do I need to select to charge over the 12v socket on my BMW?You'll need to select the CANbus program to charge via 12V socket on your BMW motorcycle.
There is no selection button. How do I switch program?

Unplug the OptiMate, connect the clamps together, wait for the LED's to confirm program change (the LED's start to blink fast after 10 seconds) disconnect clamps. See picture on back of charger.

What's the difference with the Optimate 4 Canbus edition?CANbus edition is delivered with OptiMate adapter O-09 which fits 12V sockets. Dual Program is CANbus compatible but will standard be delivered without this adapter.
I want to use my Optimate Dual over the 12v socket. Which additional connector do I need?You will need one of the OptiMate BIKE plug cables (O-02, O-09, O19 or O-29)
What type and size batteries does optimate 4 charge?STD, AGM and GEL 12V lead-acid batteries used for engine start & deep cycle applications. How fast does Optimate 4 recharge batteries?Charge time on a flat but otherwise undamaged battery: a 12Ah battery should take no more than about 12 hours to progress to the self-discharge check. Deep-discharged batteries may take significantly longer, a full charge may not be achieved within the hour charge safety limit. In this case.
